The chateau has been built in the middle of the 19th century by the Vicomte Martial de Soulier de Herte in place of a previous mansion. In the first quarter of the 20th century, the actual chateau was used as hunting domain by the famous Lefevre-Utile family ("LU" biscuits).

One of the owners, a former antics dealer, has been able to create a harmonious and romantic warm atmosphere throughout the house combining tasteful fabrics and antic furniture.

The chateau des Essards is situated minutes away from the famous Loire Valley with it numerous castels and minutes away from the famous vineyards such as Chinon, Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil and Saumur. There is a vast choice of visits and discoveries to make.
